Popular Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions from parrot owners.
Consider your experience level, living space, noise tolerance, and time commitment. Beginners often do well with Cockatiels, Budgies, or Lovebirds. Experienced owners might enjoy African Greys, Macaws, or Cockatoos. Our team offers free consultations to help match you with the perfect bird.
The cage should be at least twice your bird's wingspan in width. Minimum sizes: Budgies 18"x18"x24", Cockatiels 24"x24"x30", African Greys 36"x24"x48", Macaws 48"x36"x60". Always choose the largest cage your space and budget allow. Browse our cage guide for species-specific recommendations.
A balanced diet is 60-70% high-quality pellets, 20-30% fresh vegetables and fruits, and 10% seeds and nuts. Avoid avocado, chocolate, caffeine, and alcohol. We stock veterinarian-formulated pellets and provide personalized diet plans with every adoption. Shop our food collection.
Use positive reinforcement with treats. Offer your hand at chest level, say "step up," and reward immediately when your bird complies. Practice daily for 5-10 minutes. Consistency and patience are key. We include a free training guide with every adoption and can recommend certified behaviorists for advanced training.
Healthy adult parrots need annual wellness exams. Chicks, seniors, and birds with health conditions should see a vet every 6 months. Always choose an avian-certified veterinarian. We can recommend trusted avian vets in your area and provide a complete health record for every bird adopted from us.
